Inka Cube
Inka Cube is a shape-mod of a 6x6x6 magic cube, proposed by Edwin Ladronde. Removing eight corner cubes of an NxNxN magic cube is well-know shape-mod. Edwin suggested one step further by wanting to remove also the three side pieces adjacent to each of the eight corners. The result looks interesting, like an ancient Inca ruin. As Edwin lives in Cusco, close to the famous Inca ruins of Machu Picchu, the name of the puzzle felt obvious. As for the spelling, Inka with a "k" is still used in modern Quechua language to refer to a ruler or leader. And also "Oskar" is spelled with a "k". The puzzle mechanism has a 2x2x2 core into which the outer pieces are hooked. The puzzle was prototyped in ABS FDM by Chewie's Custom Puzzles. Several rounds of prototyping were needed to get detail right for the ABS FDM technology used.
This puzzle comes in two versions. One version has regular flat tiles, the other has Inka themed tiles. Choose from the drop down menu.
This puzzle is printed in ABS material then vapor smoothed with Actetone. It comes fully assembled. Turning is very nice. Enjoy!
